Project Affinity is a not for profit organization that caters to underserved populations by providing vital services that enrich mind, body, and soul.

Project Affinity’s mission and goals are formed and rooted in the Islamic Tradition. Even our name Affinity traces back to one of Allah’s attribute, Al-Wadud  (The Affectionate). The Islamic history is rich in elevating and promoting the needs of the disenfranchised. These rich traditions are traced back to and exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad. Caliph Umar is also known to have introduced the concepts of welfare and pension as forms of Zakah (Fifth Pillar of Islam).  One can locate numerous passages in the Holy Quran and in the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad that emphasis this quality.  A verse that resonates with us is:

Never will you attain righteousness until you spend from what you love.

Chapter Al Imran: Verse 92

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad  tradition echoes the same message:

None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.

Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim

We, at Project Affinity, are inspired to revive the tradition of service by uplifting those who have been marginalized by society.
